Cargo and Seating Capacity
To kick things off,
one of the major distinctions between these two SUVs is seating capacity. The
Volkswagen Atlas comes standard with three rows of seating, which allows seven
passengers to climb aboard, while the Volkswagen Tiguan is a standard five-seater,
though it offers a seven-seat option on higher trims. Regardless, you'll find
it stands with a slightly smaller frame than that of the Atlas.
In terms of
cargo capacity, with all seats upright, the Volkswagen Atlas offers
20.6-cubic-feet or 96.8-cubic-feet with the second and third rows folded. In
the Volkswagen Tiguan, Houston families can expect up to 37.6-cubic-feet of
space with all seats upright, and up to 73.5-cubic-feet with rear seats folded,
if you opt for the five-seat option.
VW Atlas
The Volkswagen Atlas offers two
different engine options for drivers to choose from both paired with an
eight-speed transmission and both available with 4MOTIONĀ® all-wheel drive. The
standard engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder configuration producing
245-horsepower and 258-pound-feet of torque. For more power, enjoy the
3.6-liter V6 engine capable of 276-horsepower and 266-pound-feet of torque.
With the right trailer hitch, the Volkswagen Atlas can tow up to 5,000-pounds
of whatever you need on your next adventure.
VW Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan features one
engine configuration that consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder
engine producing 184-horsepower. Every model in the lineup offers available
4MOTIONĀ® all-wheel drive and the reliability and agility of a standard
eight-speed transmission. Expect a 1,500-pound towing
capacity.
